Oscar's Awards Menu -the night before-

(the night before)
1. Poached pears in red wine

Ingredients:

  • 4 large pears
  • a bottle of red or white wine
  • a cinnamon stick
  • half of a vanilla pod
  • 10 ounces (300 grams) of agave

1. Imagine that the pears are in the pan and pour enough wine to that amount. Do not place the pears in the pan at this time.

2. Place the vanilla, agave, and cinnamon stick into the pan and place the lid on.

3. Let the wine mixture become to a simmer.

4. Use a vegetable peeler and peel the skins off from the pears. Leave the stalks on (the "sticks" on top).

5.  Turn down the heat and place the pears carefully in the pan. Let the pears cook for 2 hours (or until the pears are very soft) at a very low temperature.

6. Heat the wine mixture back to a boil on medium heat. Make sure that your result is a thickened "sauce" or mixture.

7. Serve the pears with the stalk up (you can cut the bottom). Drizzle the wine mixture over the pears.

Warm dessert for this cold Sunday

Have you been outside?? It's is crazy freezing! Why don't you stay warm inside your apartment and cook yourself and your partner o roommates a very easy and delicious dessert!? It's our way to put New York in an oven and let it warm up!

Our suggestion for a FreezingSunday is......  Big Baked Apple!!
Follow the easy steps and we guarantee your success!

Ingredients:

Organic Apples (1 per person)
Honey
Cinnamon
Dry fruit
fat free frozen yogurt

Step 1

Wash the apples to remove any dirt and other contaminants. Pat the apples dry to remove excess moisture.

Step 2

Cut out the core of each apple using an apple corer or a sharp paring knife. To use a knife, make four cuts around the core straight down from the top of the apple through the bottom. Make additional cuts between the four initial cuts to free the core.

Step 3

Arrange the cored apples in a baking dish, leaving a small space between each fruit.

Step 4

Mix together 1/4 cup of honey and 1 tsp. of ground cinnamon. Fill the core of each apple with the mixture.

Step 5

Top the apples with dried fruit and nuts. Tuck the toppings down into the core so they stay with the apple.

Step 6

Bake the filled apples at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes. Check to see if they are tender with the filling bubbly. Continue baking if the apples aren't tender all the way through.

Step 7

Remove the apples from the pans to individual serving plates.

Serve the apples on plate with three small balls of fat free frozen yogurt placing the balls yogurt balls in a triangular, "heart" shape.

Sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top of the frozen yogurt.

                                      ENJOY!!!!!!

Snow Time?? SPA Time!!!!!

Is it too cold to be outside?? Why don't you take a bath outside in very warm water??? If you are in New York there is a very comfy and nice spa, The New York Spa Castle

And if you decide to go Sandra Barcelona has some very special recommendations for a good spa experience:

(1)  Bring your own shower towel, the ones they have in the spa are very small, and there is an extra charge for beach towels.

(2) You don't need to worry to bring your shampoo or bath gel, it is all provided by the spa. However:
      - bring your own sulfate free champoo and conditioner to take good care of your hair health and looks.

(3) They have very nice SPA SERVICES and MASSAGES available for extra charge, which we really recommend:
      - bring your own facial mascara, and body scrub if you want to save some money and have a wonderful  experience.

This is an IDEAL PLAN FOR VALENTINES...and for any other special ocasion.... they also have food and drinks available to purchase.

KEEP POSTED! MORE UNIQUE SPA EXPERIENCES COMING UP SOON!!!
